This body governs certain territories known as ‘trust territories’; those territories that were once considered the League of Nations’ mandates. Though it has been defunct in practice since 1994, it protects the political integrity of resources shared between countries, called ‘Global Commons.’

Its future has been debated by many, and its role in the preservation of resources and maintaining the political integrity of autonomous peoples make it an important council within the UN.
