ABOUT
Since its inception twelve years ago, NPSiMUN has steadily flourished to become a distinguished conference in the Singapore Model UN circuit. For its 12th iteration, NPSiMUN XII will present delegates with an exceptional event that upholds the conference’s prestige and excellence. With a diverse range of engaging committees, delectable meals, and an unforgettable Socials Night, NPSiMUN XII is guaranteed to leave attendees with plenty of memories and a newfound passion for debate and discourse.
Join us from the 25th to the 27th of October 2024 to be a part of this legacy.
THE SECRETARIAT
SECRETARY-GENERAL
Rishima Cheepala
At her first MUN, Rishima was an aspiring doctor eager to discuss the future of gene editing. Since then, she has (for the sake of public health), strayed far, far away from those dreams. At her aforementioned first conference, she was told that she « spoke too much but not very well » Since then, Rishima has debated in tournaments around the world and attended every edition of NPSiMUN since Grade 8, determined to prove that chair wrong. As the Secretary-General of this conference, she makes it her personal responsibility to ensure that everyone comes out of NPSiMUN XII having learnt something about these pressing issues which plague our world. Her primary motive is to ensure that everyone makes the most of these 3 days - speak (argue even), dance, eat, make new friends, and most importantly, appreciate Rishima for being the best Sec Gen!
Others believes that Rishima’s intense enthusiasm for politics makes her a terrible person to converse with. She would disagree, but she will refrain from giving her opinions here for the sake of sounding mysterious and exciting! Rishima is a firm believer that 2000s Bollywood movies, her 50+ Spotify playlists, and a pretty sunset can solve all her problems. You can also find her hugging her stuffed dog Brownie and passionately defending her IB subject choices to the naysayers. She is super approachable and a top-tier yapper, so don’t be afraid to ask her anything!
DEPUTY
SECRETARY-GENERAL
Karen Monie
Karen has participated in many MUNs, including several online, where she first found the courage to speak, but it was somewhere between the opening and closing ceremony of NPSiMUN IX, in the USS committee, that she truly experienced NPSiMUN. Filibustering, solving fried-chicken related crises and manipulating a roomful of people into signing a bill with a tiny clause that changed its meaning on a technicality about drug composition were core memories for her, making her forever addicted to the thrill of MUN. To her, it is so much more than just diplomacy and public speaking. It’s about strategy and learning about things you would never otherwise know. It’s about making friends and taking photos and inside jokes with your committee. She is incredibly proud to be the Deputy Secretary-General of this beautiful conference and she hopes that all of you will develop a love for it too.
Other than MUN (and LawCon <3), her passions include basketball and dance. Although she isn’t particularly great at either of those things, it doesn't stop her from doing them anyways. She also loves taking photos, singing at inappropriate times and watching cute cat videos. In her free time, you can find her taking a nap with her fluffy blanket, baking for her friends, or taking a nighttime walk to listen to music and get 5$ Domino’s pizza. She loves meeting people and giving advice so she hopes you will ask her tons of questions, the dumber the better.
USG OF ACADEMICS
Ivannah Jacob
If you had told eighth-grade Ivannah, nervously attending her first NPSI MUN, that in four years she would have the chance to serve as USG of Academics, she would have been stunned. Yet here she is, growing more passionate about debate and diplomacy as she ideates committees and guides chairs in creating riveting agendas.
If you happen to bump into Ivannah during the rare moments when she is not reviewing study guides, editing a Loop Edition or trying to navigate her IB workload, you might find her binge watching Elementary or The Big Bang Theory at 2x speed or looking for new pieces to add to her ever-expanding jewellery collection.
To all the delegates participating in NPSI MUN XII, she hopes you have an incredible experience that challenges and changes your perspective on international relations and helps you grow as a person too!
USG OF ACADEMICS
Ishaan Raghav
Ishaan’s rise to a USG of Academics was a battle fought to the last man. He embraced stoic virtues in the face of adversity and was, in his finer days, a firebrand within the field of MUN. Fueled by his MUN victories and defeats, along with knowledge of current affairs and history, he stands ready to heed the call of the Secretariat and serve the delegates another excellent NPSiMUNXII as the USG of Academics. He encourages his delegates to break out of their shell and go forth into diplomacy and external affairs, for they may trek a similar path.
He’s also a strange lad, given his laconic nature (unless you’re part of a specific GC with him). In addition, he’s a STEM student in a field of debate, as his passion lies within Physics and Astronomy. In his downtime (if he has any), you can find him in the gym trying to maintain his form, going for a walk to clear his mind of his IB-related woes, and stargazing at his local park; he also boasts of his unwavering loyalty to Tottenham Hotspur F.C and RCB (any mention of the word ‘trophy’ is a very efficient rage bait against Ishaan). His motto for succeeding at MUN is “having a will of Iron and a heart of Gold,” he hopes to see an excellent conference this year and hopes delegates enjoy their time along with learning something they’d keep for life.
USG OF LOGISTICS
Paalvi Tadwalkar
Paalvi considers herself to be a bundle of joy, and loves to be occupied with something or the other. When she is not rewatching "perfect score gymnastics routines" or trying to finally finish Grey’s Anatomy, you can find her dancing and singing just about anywhere. Although most of her friends would describe her as weird (which she totally is), She is one of the most friendly people you will ever meet, someone who can give you advice about literally anything. If you want to have her on your side, you can’t go wrong with some curry sauce from Mcdonalds (yes, just plain curry sauce). Most importantly, Paalvi has been doing MUNs since 8th grade and is honoured to be a part of the NPSiMUN XII Secretariat. She assures all delegates a splendid time and strongly encourages them to come to the conference prepared to make the best memories.
USG OF LOGISTICS
Ridhima Cheepala
Ridhima began her journey as a nervous delegate particupating in online MUNs in 2020 to escape the boredom of covid lockdowns. However, she truly began to appreciate the experience while attending NPSiMUN VIII. She has since attended every edition of NPSiMUN, gone on to chair at XI and organise debate conferences herself! (LawConV:) She believes the role of the USG of logistics is to make sure delegates talk about fond memories from this edition for years to come , but she also hopes that once you look past the initial draws of socials and yummy food, you find your love for diplomacy (or speaking at least)!
When she’s not staring at google sheets or sending emails, you can find her walking around her condo to “feel the wind”, playing tennis, strumming her guitar or dancing. Ridhima is a firm believer that “bad” movies are the best ones and that the best way to prepare for her french exams is to follow french recipes without translating the steps, often leading to slight mishaps. Her aim in life is to do everything and learn everything, which is why this STEM girl spends so much time passionately defending both her opinions on literature and her answers in math. Feel free to approach her at any time during the conference for help or even just to talk!
USG OF FINANCE
Nirmal Thomas
Being a key stakeholder (USA) in a council about drugs and crime in South America, having spoken ONCE throughout his very first MUN, his journey didn't start that well. Stuttering while speaking with every new person he met, which only got worse during committee sessions, MUN was NOT his thing. Though the stutter hasn't completely vanished, he now stutters with confidence.
Nirmal John Thomas is the most multifaceted person you’ll ever meet, and no, not in a skillset sort of way. In the way that he's either the greatest dopamine chaser who has TikTok on auto-scroll besides actual Valorant gameplay while also being on a Discord call with his friends AND playing Laufey on Spotify. Orrrr you’ll find him doing activities to reset that mental rush like going down to watch the pool lights sparkle up the water at 10 pm or going for nature walks. While his older sister begs him to go get checked at a mental institute of sorts, he is just like you. He too has hidden in the bathroom to not do that one Hindi presentation, he too has faked a cough to delay that oral he was meant to do. The point is, whatever it is you guys are feeling, he too has felt it. Don't be afraid to come to him for advice, life lessons, or even just a chat about bulking. Just know that you can rely on him to make this MUN memorable.
USG OF MARKETING
Aditi Miriam
Aditi’s love for voicing her thoughts and opinions on any given topic led her to enter the debate circuit in 2020, except in her first MUN she was THAT shy, quiet girl nestled in the back of the room, feeling cornered because she was being added to the GSL upon chair’s discretion time and time again (canon event). Nevertheless, something within her led her to persist in her MUN journey. Thankfully, she’s made it a long way across multiple debate events, having grown a love for current affairs, public speaking, and the chaos of it all. She is incredibly excited to see things come full circle and assume the role of USG of Marketing for NPSiMUN XII and hopes to give back to the precious event that has given so much to her across her high school years!
Apart from her endless hours spent fiddling with Canva and Wix, you’ll catch her yapping to her best friends about her current watches that range from the newest true crime series to women’s basketball games (both WNBA and NCAA, she does not discriminate). Her world-class talents also include listening to CTRL by Sza at the gym to escape reality and indulging in painfully overpriced cafe food. But for now, she wishes all delegates the best of luck! It might seem daunting right now but trust that your secretariat has done everything in their power to leave you with sore feet, a lost voice, and your hearts so full of the memories you make at NPSiMUN XII!
